Dear people, could we have your attention, please?
Our cultural-historical society Baltrum ("Heimatverein Baltrum") has an urgent request.We would like to show our children, guests and all interested people what it was like in older days in East Friesland and in particular on the islands. At the moment we are looking for clothes from older days.
What did our parents and grandparents wear while working inside the house, in the garden, on the dyke, "up Schleng" (=patches of mudded flats - south of the islands near the coast - that are used for gaining land; they are marked by poles that have "Schlenge" around them: brushwood)
We think of anoraks, trousers, shirts, wooden shoes, old leather boots and other similar items.
It could be, that you would also find old photographs, postcards, brochures, souvenirs, old bathing clothes, toys and old suitcases, in which you could pack all the items.
